I want to loc my hair. Where or How do i start?

my hair is basically chemical free now and just looks like a big cotton candy!

I want to loc my hair. Where or How do i start?

There are a few diff ways to get started. You can get the comb coils, or 2 strand twists, or the organic way (just let the hair matt up naturally and keep it seperated) Is there a loctician in your area to get you started if you don't want to do it yourself??

product = Try to stick with a light gel or something like organics loc n twist gel (available @ beauty supply stores)

Twisting = overtwisting can cause the roots to be thin and break off. I only twist about once every 2 months with a light/clear gel and the little silver slips.. Other methods involve latch-hooking and that is a popular method too.

sleeping = To prevent lint I sleep in a satin bonnet, or a silk scarf with my head covered, and also sleep on satin pillowcases.

oiling = About once or twice per week I'll use a lil Kemi Oyl or melted shea butter to rub on my scalp when its lookin a lil dry.

I've been locked for a year now and I love it

I want to loc my hair. Where or How do i start?

How do you start locs?

The technique used will depend on your hair閳ユ獨 length, texture and density. We may use coils, palm roll, two strand twists, plaits, or interlocking.

How long will it take my hair to loc?

It will depend on your hair texture, grooming practices, and how the locs were started. Generally speaking, it takes from a half year to a full year.

How often should I have my locs done?

This will depend on several factors (daily routine, loc閳ユ獨 size, appearance preference, etc). Usually clients have their locs groomed every 3-4 weeks.

Can I start locs with relaxer on the ends?

We start locs when all the hair is natural. Technically, it can be done but the relaxed hair will hang straight on the ends of your twists or coils.

I want to loc my hair. Where or How do i start?

I would Start by going to a Natural Salon around your area! Some people can do it a different way by twisting two locs together.... and that looks WAY cuter on Women!!

Try it out!!

I want to loc my hair. Where or How do i start?

Go to a hair store and look for twist and lock products. All you do is section your hair off depending on how small you want your locks and you just put the twist/loc product on each section of hair and start twisting. Also get shampoo and other products for locks so your locks can always look nice. Or some hair salons will even lock it for you.

I need help fixing my hair?

So i have long, thick brown hair. i used to shampoo and condition my hair with special salon stuff but it just didnt work so i tried to use Herbal Essences Dangerously Straight. Either way, when i air dry or blow dry my hair its wavy and frizzy %26amp; kinda volumized. Its not like a huge afro its just big. Although my friends say its so pretty. Its not convincing. I straighten my hair every morning with my Chi Turbo. Luckily my hair isnt damaged. I envy a lot of girls with pretty, thin, shiny hair. Its just not fair. I dont like my natural waves, i love Rachel Bilsons thin wavy hair. Ive heard that if u curl hair with a 1 in. barrel curling iron then use a hair dryer set on cold temperature and blow dry down it gives them a loose look. But w/ my hair so thick, It takes hours. Does anyone of any suggestions to make my hair thinner everyday, less frizzier %26amp; also how to get Rachel Bilsons beautiful waves?

I need help fixing my hair?

i recommend going to your hair salon next time you get your hair done and ask your hair stylist how to do what your looking for, You'll get better answers because your hair stylist has actually delt with your hair before, and knows all the little tricks and all the good products that are best for your hair type. Plus then your hair stylist can actually demonstrate how to style your hair while your in the salon.

I need help fixing my hair?

What about getting it permanently straightened. its expensive but i've seen good results with it.

When I straigthen my hair it looks dry and spongy help!?

I want to straigthen my hair you know sorta..emo style I did it and does it was the good type of thongs or whatever the name is (xD)? says shiny big waves well, do I need to use some type of crem for hair or something?

By the way, I have curly hair so thats why I want so straigth my hair

When I straigthen my hair it looks dry and spongy help!?

OK DO NOT USE HAIRSPRAY AS HEAT TAMER! DONT DO IT!

here are some things u gota do and u will have straight emo hair in no time:

-get a good straightener (i have EXTREMELY THICK AND CURLY HAIR and a chi is the only one that has worked for me

-get a good heat tamer. a good brand is tresemme.

-DO NOT STRAIGHTEN IT WHEN IT IS WET I DONT CARE IF UR STRAIGHTENER IS MEANT FOR WET HAIR, DONT DO IT!!!

thats it! folow those rules, straighten ur hair in small sections and u should be fine!

When I straigthen my hair it looks dry and spongy help!?

get a new flat iron

When I straigthen my hair it looks dry and spongy help!?

You have to use some sort of protecting stuff for your hair or else it will get severe heat damage. You could get a cream or a spray at a drug store. And if you want wavy hair try getting the straightening shampoos and conditioners, which i'm sure you can also get at the drug store. Hope this helped :]

When I straigthen my hair it looks dry and spongy help!?

Never straighten your hair when wet or it will burn and dry out, and always use a protector, such as a little bit of hairspray before straightening...the best way is to take the hair in small sections and do it like that for best results.

When I straigthen my hair it looks dry and spongy help!?

I'd stop using the straightener right away, sounds like it's doing a lot of damage and your hair could start breaking off at any time now. Deep condition it overnight using a shower cap) until you revive it, then check out some natural hair straighteners (creams etc.) if you still want to go for the straight look.

When I straigthen my hair it looks dry and spongy help!?

Hey There!

Try blow drying it straight with a big round brush first and then straighten it. Once you are done use a shining wax to give it that edgy look. One product that isn't very expensive is Fructis Style- Brilliantine Shine. Its cheap and works! You can also try going to a salon and having a professional do it once for you and have them show you their technique!

Hope that helps!

-Jen

When I straigthen my hair it looks dry and spongy help!?

I straighten my hair so I think I can be of some help..

I use a over $100 straightener because cheap ones don't work so well for me. I make sure my hair is fully dry before using the straightener then when I'm done and have it set how I want it to be, I use Herbal Essences - 'set me up' hairspray - extra hold so it stays in place all day.

It also helps it to not look dry or anything else.

Hope this helps!

When I straigthen my hair it looks dry and spongy help!?

Try washing your hair first and rubbing a heat moisturizer on your hair before straightening and blow drying. It'll keep your hair soft and supple try something from pantene. Also after you straighten it spray a shine sheen on it too keep it nice throughout the day. Also try wearing a bandana (Silk or satin), or getting a silk or satin pillowcase at bedtime it'll help you in the long run.

When I straigthen my hair it looks dry and spongy help!?

Herbal Essence Dangerously Straight shampoo and conditioner works really well and partially protects it from the heat damage.

When I straigthen my hair it looks dry and spongy help!?

You need a flat iron that gets really hot like a CHI make sure you add a serum 1st. Take your time when straightening your hair and when you are done add another small amount if serum. Make sure you start for the top to the bottom so you get no creases.

When I straigthen my hair it looks dry and spongy help!?

Good question...

What I do is wash my hair and condition it realllllly good...(also twice a month you should do a hot oil treatment on your hair...that helps keep it healthy and shiny) then I dry my hair either with a hair dryer or air dry...once its completely dry I put in a little bit of garnier frutrice hair serum...its in a little round bottle with a pump...then I use my flat iron and take little sections of my hair and run it over that section at least twice...it works well...and once I've got it the way I want it I add a little more of the serum, it helps tame flyaways and keeps it straight...

good luck

Should i perm my hair? would small curls suit me? (pic included)?

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v204/u...

well, i dont know. i sort of think big loose curls are so pretty but then i think small curls are cute too!

like this

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v204/u...

would i look good with such dolly hairstyle? or would pretty big loose waves suit me better? or should i just keep my hair boring straight?

how old do you think i am anyway? make a wild guess?

Should i perm my hair? would small curls suit me? (pic included)?

I really like the tight curls in that picture and i think that they would look great on you!..

but you have to remember that when you curl your hair that tight it will make it a lot shorter, thus is might not look exactly like in the pic (length wise)

If i were you, i would use a curling iron to make your hair that curly and try that hairstyle out for a few weeks, it'll be temporary, which is good in case it doesn't look the way you want, or you find it doesn't really suit you.

When and if you decide if you are going to get it permed make sure you find someone who knows what they are doing because perms can either look great or horrendous.

Be sure to tell the hairstylist EXACTLY what you want, use your hands to show them, and taking that picture with you would also prove to be very useful.

Good Luck!~

:]

Should i perm my hair? would small curls suit me? (pic included)?

I think you would look good with a perm but you look okay with straight hair. Its up to you.

Should i perm my hair? would small curls suit me? (pic included)?

i think big curls would be nicer on you... i would give you anywhere between 18- 21

Should i perm my hair? would small curls suit me? (pic included)?

i say no

Should i perm my hair? would small curls suit me? (pic included)?

Ohh I like that hairstyle! It would look sooo cute on you =]

Should i perm my hair? would small curls suit me? (pic included)?

I think you would look good in curls. As to whether or not they should be big or small...beats me.

Should i perm my hair? would small curls suit me? (pic included)?

i wouldnt perm ur hair, id stick to the curling iron. it works just as fine buts ttemporary. i dont really like permed hair. it always looks weird to me XD

Should i perm my hair? would small curls suit me? (pic included)?

curls all the way! you go girl! :D

Should i perm my hair? would small curls suit me? (pic included)?

no your hair is fab the way it is!! i no you can get bord of your hair sometimes but just curl it with curling tongs or mouse!!

Should i perm my hair? would small curls suit me? (pic included)?

don't do anything crazy! Your hair is gorgeous!

Go to http://www.makeoversolutions.com and put your pic in- you can try out the hair before you get it...Have fun!

Should i perm my hair? would small curls suit me? (pic included)?

i think you look fine with straight hair

curly would just look wierd

and id guess your about 13

Should i perm my hair? would small curls suit me? (pic included)?

yeah perm it... i always go for crazy wacky styles.... like having one side of your hair short and the other left long. once i fdyed my hair fully violet, blue and pink.

doing those things are fun.... experiment. you never know til you try.

you look 17

Should i perm my hair? would small curls suit me? (pic included)?

i think that either way you would look pretty.

try the big curls

Should i perm my hair? would small curls suit me? (pic included)?

i think small curls would fit you. you look about 19.

Should i perm my hair? would small curls suit me? (pic included)?

Yes! I think curls would look really good on u! I'm used 2 deciding on stuff like this cause I got a sister who I always help when she needs a new look.

Should i perm my hair? would small curls suit me? (pic included)?

I SAY NOOOO WAY DON'T DO IT

:)

Should i perm my hair? would small curls suit me? (pic included)?

Dont get a Perm YUCKO

I want Perms to become exstinked

Perms make me whant to cry and Puke and Hate myself

My mother used to force me to get perms all the time when I was younger and I tried to tell her How I felt but she never wanted to listen

Should i perm my hair? would small curls suit me? (pic included)?

i think you should keep your hair straight but get layers n feathering in it !!

Should i perm my hair? would small curls suit me? (pic included)?

I'd go shorter - stacked in the back then tapered toward your jawline in the front with bangs to the side - very instyle and very complimentary to your face shape - ditch the straight hair - it will also make your hair look thicker.

Should i perm my hair? would small curls suit me? (pic included)?

ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww...

ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww...

ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww...

\

Should i perm my hair? would small curls suit me? (pic included)?

Not good at guessing ages but the curls in the last picture would look really nice on you, giving your face fullness and your hair bounce.

Should i perm my hair? would small curls suit me? (pic included)?

I'd go with big curls too, smaller curls can go frizzy if you don't spend hours preening them.

Permed hair is a bit of a mission to maintain - the tighter the curls the harder it is - but it is worth it. I got a perm a few years ago even though they were super unfashionable, but I loved it!

Should i perm my hair? would small curls suit me? (pic included)?

I think you should definitely perm your hair, however, you should get waves instead of curls. The pic of the girl with the tight small curls looks like it would be hard to maintain and may start to look frizzy.

Should i perm my hair? would small curls suit me? (pic included)?

well you would look pretty with wavy hair judging on your pics. And you look about 16 to me, if i'm wrong sorry! you should make your hair look wavy.

Should i perm my hair? would small curls suit me? (pic included)?

I would say that if your hair is naturally straight then dont perm it now wait until you get a bit older and think about it more because when your hair grows your perm will grow out and you'll have half straight half curly hair.but idk its up to you.

Should i perm my hair? would small curls suit me? (pic included)?

yes l totally agree you would look great in a perm cause your hair is straight and blahhhh and you want to give lt a lift. so do lt.. lt will come out looking very nice on you

Should i perm my hair? would small curls suit me? (pic included)?

if you want a change i would but if you have straight hair i would totaly keep it...

Should i perm my hair? would small curls suit me? (pic included)?

If you get a really tight perm, you have no flexibility. You have to have really small curls all the time, and it takes a lot of work if you don't want it to frizz. Also, hairdressers sometimes go overboard with the chemicals, so rather ask for less than more. If you get loose, big curls, your hair will pretty much look after itself and just needs a bit of mousse sometimes. And it also allows you to do the small curls when you feel like it: wavy hair will take a new style more easily than straight hair, so you can just put your hair in small rollers to get that look.

I say either big, loose curls or a kinda layered, choppy look with straight hair. Straight looks good too, but a girl bets bored...

I'd put you at 18, but only because you're asian. If you were white I'd say 15. If it helps, I'm 23 and people still think I'm in school...

Should i perm my hair? would small curls suit me? (pic included)?

A perm would look great on you! I think both ways are pretty, but I love the perm! I'll take a guess, are you about 12 or 13? Just guessing. You are very pretty though!

Should i perm my hair? would small curls suit me? (pic included)?

omg it would be super super cute :)

What's so big about St Patrick's Day?

I am Irish, with the red hair and all. I never knew why this was such a big deal here in the US. Then again, I was never very interested in my ancestry until recently. Can somebody please tell me why this is celebrated?

What's so big about St Patrick's Day?

Well you might not like the reason. It originated as a celebration of converting the Irish to Christianity, the driving out of the snakes refers to the Pagans.

What's so big about St Patrick's Day?

Greetings, fellow red-head. I never thought of it as being a huge deal. The whole holiday is based around Catholics and Protestants fighting each other. I never really saw any appeal in it.

What's so big about St Patrick's Day?

because st. patrick invented guinness for us to drink.

seriously though... back in the day, there was a legend claiming that st. patrick, or Pretty Pat as he was called at the time by the ladies, had banished all the snakes from the emerald isle. but as it turns out, there never were any snakes, and most believe the ''snakes'' were an alliteration for the druids, who were pagan priests/priestesses of sorts.

What's so big about St Patrick's Day?

It gives people a reason to get drunk and act foolish. That's it.

What's so big about St Patrick's Day?

Being Catholic plays a major part in the holiday as it reminds of of who we are and where we came from. No longer Catholic, but Irish to the bone.

What's so big about St Patrick's Day?

nothing..

What's so big about St Patrick's Day?

the very first St Patrick celebration was held in the US. :) Ireland could really care less about the day.

What's so big about St Patrick's Day?

It's my birthday!

What's so big about St Patrick's Day?

We're a celebratory society, so St. Patrick's day is much like Valentine's day -- an excuse to "have fun" in the winter months.

What's so big about St Patrick's Day?

there's lots of people with irish roots here, me included....but i guess not as irish as you cuz im blonde.

What's so big about St Patrick's Day?

Saint Patrick was a priest that brought salvation to Ireland and aided in it's solidarity.

What's so big about St Patrick's Day?

cuz everybody luvs beer and green! im Irish too. I like the holiday! I think it's a really good excuse to pinch someone.

What's so big about St Patrick's Day?

The Irish wanted their own holiday, a holiday that was all about the Irish, so............................

What's so big about St Patrick's Day?

ALCOHOL.

That's why.

What's so big about St Patrick's Day?

Nothing. Just another reason to get drunk.

What's so big about St Patrick's Day?

St. Patrick is believed to have driven the snakes from Ireland. Once a pagan himself, St. Patrick is one of Christianity's most widely known figures. The modern secular holiday is based on the original Christian saint's feast day also thought to be the date of the saint's death. In 1737, Irish immigrants to the United States began observing the holiday publicly in Boston and held the first St. Patrick's Day Parade in New York City in 1766. Today, the tradition continues with people from all walks and heritages by wearing green, eating Irish food, and attending parades. St. Patrick's Day is bursting with folklore; from the shamrock to the leprechaun and to pinching those that are not wearing green. St. Patrick's Day is celebrated on March 17, his religious feast day and the anniversary of his death in the fifth century. The Irish have observed this day as a religious holiday for thousands of years. On St. Patrick's Day, which falls during the Christian season of Lent, Irish families would traditionally attend church in the morning and celebrate in the afternoon. Lenten prohibitions against the consumption of meat were waived and people would dance, drink, and feast閳ユ攼n the traditional meal of Irish bacon and cabbage. The first St. Patrick's Day parade took place not in Ireland, but in the United States. Irish soldiers serving in the English military marched through New York City on March 17, 1762. Along with their music, the parade helped the soldiers to reconnect with their Irish roots, as well as fellow Irishmen serving in the English army.

Over the next thirty-five years, Irish patriotism among American immigrants flourished, prompting the rise of so-called "Irish Aid" societies, like the Friendly Sons of Saint Patrick and the Hibernian Society. Each group would hold annual parades featuring bagpipes (which actually first became popular in the Scottish and British armies) and drums.

What's so big about St Patrick's Day?

St. Patrick's Day commemorates the patron saint of Ireland and is a day to celebrate Irish culture.

St. Patrick's Blue, not green, was the colour long-associated with St. Patrick. Green, the colour most widely associated with Ireland, with Irish people, and with St. Patrick's Day in modern times, may have gained its prominence through the phrase "the wearing of the green" meaning to wear a shamrock on one's clothing. At many times in Irish history, to do so was seen as a sign of Irish nationalism or loyalty to the Roman Catholic faith. St. Patrick used the shamrock, a three-leaved plant, to explain the Holy Trinity to the pre-Christian Irish. The wearing of and display of shamrocks and shamrock-inspired designs have become a ubiquitous feature of the saint's holiday.[8] The change to Ireland's association with green rather than blue probably began around the 1750s

What's so big about St Patrick's Day?

St.Patrick was kidnapped and enslaved by the Irish {he was British} after several years in captivity he escaped and returned to his homeland.

Once he got there he converted to Christianity in the 5th century I think.

He became a priest and returned to Ireland to convert the pagans and was very successful in that he started several churches and monasteries.

During the potato famine many Irish moved to the U.S. Canada and Australia and brought with them St.Patrick.

I think he became so popular because he is celebrated during Lent a time in which Catholics give up drinking and such during that time but it was acceptable to the Irish to have a few drinks During the feast of St.Patrick making the holiday very festive indeed and therefore popular.

Btw Irish got red hair because our Irish ancestors were mixed with Vikings that is where red hair originally came from. Or so I read in a science magazine though one of the Pharoahs of ancient Egypt was a red head as well.

What's so big about St Patrick's Day?

It's a big deal here in the USA because of the Christians.

St. Patrick wasn't born in Ireland and he certainly wasn't Irish. He was a missionary that came there and caused the near extinction of the indigenous culture and religion.
