Is it possible for your hair to shrink?

I'm sorry if this question sounds kind of stupid-- but I don't really know the answer.

Last week, I was outdoors in the sun for about 8 hours everyday. It was very hot.

Before this, my hair was at the length where I could pull it down and cover almost half of my eye. I don't wear my hair like that, in case you were wondering.

Now, when I pull my hair down, it just reaches the bottom of my eyebrow. That's a considerable difference, right?

So what I am asking is-- is it possible for your hair to shrink? If so, is it the sun that has caused it to shrink?

I know the sun had some effect on my hair, because it turned my hair a lot lighter.

Does anyone know why this happened?

It's not a big deal or anything, I'm just curious.

it is possible....if your hair was wet before that and you sat in the sun it will cause your hair to "shrink up" because its takin all the moisture out...or some of your hair broke off but thats probably nOt breaking

rite after u wet it or take a shower yur hair shrinks like a centimeter.... i dont kno bout hte sum think, i'd put some sorta gel in b4 u go out, that wat the sum doesnt suck up the moisture in yur hair
