Does straightening you hair every other day burn my hair?

well, about 2 months ago i bought a straightener because I hate my hair so much! its really wavy and its like huge- a lot of ... volume i guess?? anyways, since then, i've been straightening my hair every other day except for weekends- usually- but my mom says it will ruin my hair ( and she also says that my hair is pretty just the way it is but now i know shes just saying that because shes my mom- and also she has straight hair so what does she know) and i've noticed that the ends of my hair kinda look burned and they're easy to break and im really starting to freak out! what else can I do with my hair? and i don't mean like different hairstyles: ponytail, braid, stuff like that.... i mean how can I fix it without ruining it? plz help!! also, if it helps, I'm 13 and my hair is brown and about 2-3 below my shoulders. oh also, like i said before, its very thick and wavy and really.... just BIG!

my hair is ruined. its so split. get conditioning treatments and deep condition every week. get regular haircuts. my hair is no longer a nice texture when i don't straighten it, and certain parts are so over straightened that they don't stay straight (theyre so dry and damaged.) use dove intense damage therapy regularly. don't hold it on your ends . try getting it permanently straightened and then get a haircut.

please mark a best answer,

yea over time ur hair will get really damaged from all the straightening. try a new hairstyle that wont damage ur hair so much. it really dries it out and ur hair will eventually feel all straw like.

I also have long wavy brown hair, almost like a perm? lol you want to get a good straightener like a Chi Iron NEVER use the kind where they says you can straighten wet hair, those will ruin your hair! they make Shampoo for people who straighten their hair, keeps it strong .. like Biolage, Bed Head, Nioxin shampoo..mostly sold at nice salons but aren't too too expensive. when I get out of the shower I use "CHI Straight Gaurd" which is smoothing styling cream and it protects the hair before the heat hits it, after I'm done I use "PUREOLOGY Antifade Complex" which creates luminous shimmering shine and has an anitfade complex to REPAIR and PROTECT. Hope this helps.

ps. My aunt is a hair stylest and she says its good to dry your hair with a Tshirt instead of a cotton town to keep some of the moisture in your hair so it doesnt become too dry and break off.

The number one cause of split ends and breakage is the consistent heat you apply to your hair. How many times a week do you curl, flat iron or wave iron your hair? Nevermind, don鈥檛 tell me, I don鈥檛 want to know.

Each strand of your hair is covered in cuticles that protect the inner core of the hair. When heat is applied to the hair, these cuticles stand straight up (you鈥檙e basically blasting open the protective layer of your hair). Using excessive heat will ultimately result in the malfunction of your cuticles鈥hich basically means no protection for your hair. So ladies, or guys, love your hair as is. Invest in some professional product, learn to style with a blow-dryer and for the love of God save the hot tools for at the most once or twice a week and special occasions.
