You have to use some sort of protecting stuff for your hair or else it will get severe heat damage. You could get a cream or a spray at a drug store. And if you want wavy hair try getting the straightening shampoos and conditioners, which i'm sure you can also get at the drug store. Hope this helped :]

Never straighten your hair when wet or it will burn and dry out, and always use a protector, such as a little bit of hairspray before straightening...the best way is to take the hair in small sections and do it like that for best results.

I'd stop using the straightener right away, sounds like it's doing a lot of damage and your hair could start breaking off at any time now. Deep condition it overnight using a shower cap) until you revive it, then check out some natural hair straighteners (creams etc.) if you still want to go for the straight look.

Hey There!

Try blow drying it straight with a big round brush first and then straighten it. Once you are done use a shining wax to give it that edgy look. One product that isn't very expensive is Fructis Style- Brilliantine Shine. Its cheap and works! You can also try going to a salon and having a professional do it once for you and have them show you their technique!

Hope that helps!

When I straigthen my hair it looks dry and spongy help!?

I straighten my hair so I think I can be of some help..

I use a over $100 straightener because cheap ones don't work so well for me. I make sure my hair is fully dry before using the straightener then when I'm done and have it set how I want it to be, I use Herbal Essences - 'set me up' hairspray - extra hold so it stays in place all day.

It also helps it to not look dry or anything else.

Hope this helps!

Try washing your hair first and rubbing a heat moisturizer on your hair before straightening and blow drying. It'll keep your hair soft and supple try something from pantene. Also after you straighten it spray a shine sheen on it too keep it nice throughout the day. Also try wearing a bandana (Silk or satin), or getting a silk or satin pillowcase at bedtime it'll help you in the long run.

Herbal Essence Dangerously Straight shampoo and conditioner works really well and partially protects it from the heat damage.

You need a flat iron that gets really hot like a CHI make sure you add a serum 1st. Take your time when straightening your hair and when you are done add another small amount if serum. Make sure you start for the top to the bottom so you get no creases.

Good question...

What I do is wash my hair and condition it realllllly good...(also twice a month you should do a hot oil treatment on your hair...that helps keep it healthy and shiny) then I dry my hair either with a hair dryer or air dry...once its completely dry I put in a little bit of garnier frutrice hair serum...its in a little round bottle with a pump...then I use my flat iron and take little sections of my hair and run it over that section at least twice...it works well...and once I've got it the way I want it I add a little more of the serum, it helps tame flyaways and keeps it straight...

good luck
